Are you scared of spiders? Frightened of flying? Terrified of needles? Usually a fear is a useful and natural part of life, but when that fear begins to hinder our lives, we can begin to avoid the object or situation that causes the initial anxiety. The mind starts to over-generalise and this is when a fear becomes a phobia. The thoughts associated with the fear are almost always irrational and the sufferer is usually aware of that, but the feelings become so overwhelming that they feel helpless and out of control. Through the use of clinical hypnotherapy, EFT and NLP you will soon be able to release the anxiety that caused the phobia and re-programme your unconscious mind to have realistic and healthy thoughts and feelings towards the previously phobic situation or object. Curing a phobia can often be a quick and straightforward process but deeper issues may need a few sessions. Joanna was an engineer who had a great technical understanding of how planes got into the air and were able to fly and land safely. As a child she frequently flew all over the world with her family as her father designed aircraft engines for Boeing. She loved flying and for her it was “just like catching the bus” until one specific trip where she was allowed to take her 14 year old friend with her to Singapore. During the flight, the plane encountered strong turbulence and Joanna tried to explain to her terrified friend that everything was normal. This didn’t do anything to reassure her friend she started screaming “I don’t want to die”. Up until then it hadn’t occurred to Joanna that they might be in danger and she also got upset and frightened. That was the last flight she took until she came to see Maxine Henk-Bryce at Positive Change.
